Marcos meets King Philippe; PH-Belgium action plan up


President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and King Philippe of Belgium have met at the Royal Palace of Brussels where both leaders discussed their nations' four-year joint action plan.

Marcos was granted an audience with the king on the sidelines of his participation in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations-European Union (ASEAN-EU) summits on Dec. 13.

According to the Office of the Press Secretary, the President was able to expressed his intention to strengthen the bilateral relations of the Philippines and Belgium in various areas of cooperation through the Philippines-Belgium Joint Plan of Action for 2023 until 2027.

Prior to the meeting, Marcos said the meeting is "an opportunity to convey to the King that the Philippines intends to pursue a strategic partnership with Belgium in various fields."

He also stated that he was looking forward to signing the joint plan of action "that could further enhance bilateral cooperation and allow our two countries to discuss regional and global issues of mutual concern."

Marcos is in Belgium until Dec. 14 to participates in the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit and hold several bilateral meetings with his counterparts.
