Caraga police alerted versus NPA attacks, criminal elements during CPP anniversary

CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The regional command of the Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (The Caraga Region) on Tuesday has placed all its forces on highest alert status in anticipation of attacks as the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) marks its 54th anniversary this month.

The CPP, the political arm of the New People’s Army (NPA), will celebrate its anniversary on Dec. 26.

All regional, provincial and city mobile force commanders, provincial and city directors as well as municipal chiefs of police are also directed to stay in their respective command stations so they can immediately order in case of any untoward incidents.

All government and private installations, especially power, water and communication facilities ‘must be secured at all times,’ the directive said.

The regional command of PRO 13 also ordered field commanders to conduct round-the-clock patrols in all public places, such as churches, transportation terminals, markets and parks, in an effort to maintain peace and harmony during the vacation break.

The directive was issued by the Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) Regional Director Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra ll.

“We must try our very best to have a peaceful and meaningful celebration as fellow Caraganons, guests and visitors will gather this Yuletide Season,” the region’s top cop said.

“It is during this time that peace officers (policemen) should be on their respective stations and on the street as it is expected that bad elements would go around also preying on the public, and we must protect our fellow Caraganons during this time,” Brig. Gen. Labra added.
