DPWH completes P187.1-M road project in Guimaras

ILOILO CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a P187.1-million road improvement project in the island-province of Guimaras.

DPWH-6 (Western Visayas) Director Nerie Bueno said the upgrading of sections of the Guimaras Circumferential Road benefits people in the towns of Jordan and Buenavista.

“The completion of the projects not only restored the good condition of the road, but also prolong service life and provide lesser travel time and ease of access,” said Bueno.

Among the works implemented by the DPWH-Guimaras District Engineering Office were the reconstruction of portland concrete cement pavement on inner lanes, asphalt overlay, and application of pavement markings for safety on a 3.81-kilometer section in Jordan and a 5.6-kilometer section in Buenavista.

“Asphalt pavement offers no or fewer road bumps, high skid resistance, and high contrast between pavement and road markings, giving motorists better road visibility and cutting the maintenance cost of vehicles due to reduced wear and tear,” Bueno said.

The circumferential road connects residents to markets, hospitals, and school as well as eases travel to destinations such as the Roca Encantada Heritage House and Navalas Church in Buenavista.
