Three dead, one injured in separate road accidents in Negros

BACOLOD CITY -- Three persons were killed while another was wounded in separate road accidents in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Dec. 8.

The first accident happened in Barangay La Granja, where 55-year-old Alejandro Caminse died after his motorcycle rammed into the rear part of a parked truck at Hacienda Silos.

La Carlota police chief Lt. Col. Lowell Garinganao said that Caminse was believed to be speeding and may have failed to notice an early warning device placed in the area.

Garinganao said that the victim who had no helmet was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

An hour later, two cousins died while their companion was wounded in another accident in Barangay Cubay.

The fatalities were identified as John Lawrence Mesobre, 19, and his 17-year-old cousin, whose name was withheld, both residents of Barangay San Miguel.

Wounded was Dan Fred Locsin, 33, of Barangay II.

Garinganao said that Mesobre’s alleged speeding motorcycle hit the early warning device and ended up crashing into the rear part of a parked truck loaded with sugarcane.

He said the two cousins were declared dead on arrival at a hospital, while Locsin was seriously wounded and is still confined in a hospital here.

The two cousins were also not wearing helmets, Garinganao added.

Garinganao said the truck driver will be released from police custody if no charges are filed against him.
