Jodi Sta. Maria was named best actress at the Asian Academy Creative Awards Thursday in Singapore.
She won the plum for her portrayal of a vengeful wife in “The Broken Marriage Vow,” the ABS-CBN adaptation of the British series “Doctor Foster.”
In her acceptance speech, the 40-year old actress admitted to have been surprised by the win.
"This was so unexpected," she said, going on to thank the award-giving body, her home network ABS-CBN, Dreamscape, her co-stars and show directors Connie Macatuno and Andoy Ranay.
She added, "I would always say that it takes a village to be able to produce a wonderful series."
"This is the highlight of my year. Thank you, thank you. God, I give you back all the glory and praise," she concluded.
Jodi took to social media soon after to seemingly express herself better.
