The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Friday, Dec. 9, that it will "aggressively" pursue its digitalization program next year to make it easier to both its frontliners and clientele to transact business.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the automation program will start with tourist visa extension, visa waiver applications, and electronic payment.
The BI chief outlined the projects during strategic planning sessions with other key officials of the agency.
The discussions also centered on national security and anti-corruption measures.
"Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla has instructed me to focus my tasks in modernizing the operations and ridding the service of grafters," Tansingco said.
"These are exciting times as we are implementing changes to enhance the quality of our services," he added.
