Proud moment: Cong Lagman witnesses son's oath-taking as Albay gov


Albay 1st district Rep. Edcel Lagman witnessed his son, Albay Vice Governor Grex Lagman, get sworn into office as provincial governor on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 7.

The younger Lagman's oath was administered by House Speaker Martin Romualdez at the Batasang Pambansa Complex, home of the House of Representatives.

"Congratulations on your new responsibility as governor of the province of Albay,” Romualdez, of Leyte’s 1st district, told Governor Lagman after the simple oath-taking ceremony.

“I am confident that you will serve your constituents to the best of your ability and accord the highest priority for their welfare,” added the Speaker, who sits as President of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party.

Rep. Lagman, an independent minority solon, is the Liberal Party (LP) president. His son is a former congressman, having been his predecessor in the district.

The younger Lagman succeeded Governor Noel Rosal, who was recently disqualified by the Commission on Elections.

Also witnessing the oath-taking were Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co and former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Alfredo Garbin Jr.
