Iloilo bans entry of poultry from Capiz

ILOILO CITY – This city and the provincial government of Iloilo have decided to ban the entry of poultry coming from Capiz province following the confirmation that chickens at a poultry farm in Roxas City are infected with bird flu.

The first to issue the ban was the Iloilo province.

“There shall be a temporary ban on the entry to the Province of all live domestic and wild birds and their products from the Province of Capiz until December 13,” said the Executive Order issued by Atty. Dennis Ventilacion, officer-in-charge of the Office of the Governor.

Mayor Jerry Treñas of Iloilo City also issued an executive order banning the entry of live domestic and wild birds from Capiz. The ban extends to poultry and ducks from Luzon and Mindanao.

The Department of Agriculture (DA-6) has placed the entire Western Visayas region on a ‘high alert’ after the first recorded case of bird flu in Roxas City.
