Kim Atienza reiterates: 'With fame and power comes responsibility'

"What an irritating yet sad sight."

This is what Kim Atienza wrote on social media recently, sharing a 49-second clip showing players of the Choco Mucho Flying Titans volleyball team.

In the clip, a voice could be heard greeting the team; some members were even called by their names.

"Hi, good morning! Hi Boss D! Hi Deanna (Wong), ba-bye," one said.

"Just say 'Hi,'" another added.

Many didn't like the fact that the team seemingly didn't acknowledge fans except for Maddie Madayag who waved, and Bea de Leon who gave fans a nod.

Someone pleaded: "Ma'am Od, can I take a picture?"

But Odina Aliyeva simply shook her head.

According to Kim, as public personalities, they have a choice to inspire and show gratitude to fans who passionately support them or they can choose to stay private and give them the "cold shoulder."

However, Kim believes that the volleyball team should be advised that catering to fans is a "responsibility."

"Otherwise, stay out of the public eye and play privately," he said.

"I hope they are advised by their sponsors to act properly in public."

He added in the comment section: "Baka Pagod lang sila. It happens. It's also proper to remind them because they are young and have a bright future."

In another post, he reiterated that athletes are human and have lapses like others, but he pointed out that "with fame and power comes responsibility."

"It may be hard sometimes but it's par for the course."

Other players of Choco Mucho Flying Titans are Kat Tolentino, Desiree Cheng, Dennise Lazaro, Isa Molde, Jem Ferrer, Maika Ortiz, Regine Arocha, Pauline Gaston, Cherry Rose Nunag, Aduke Ogunsanya, Shannen Palec, Toni Rose Ponce, and Caitlin Viray.
