The local government of Malabon City inaugurated its newly renovated People's Park at Catmon Village in the city on Friday, Dec. 2.
The park's rehabilitation was part of the "Adopt-a-Park Project" of the Metropolitan Manila Development (MMDA), which aims to rehabilitate "under-utilized parks" or open spaces in cities of Metro Manila.
The inauguration ceremony and blessing were led by Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and MMDA acting chairman Atty. Romando Artes.
Artes said the park is the second to be rehabilitated in Malabon City under the Adopt-a-Park Project.
He said the MMDA also inaugurated the newly rehabilitated Hulong Duhat Plaza last Sept. 8.
"Ito po ay umpisa pa lamang ng maraming proyekto ng MMDA dito sa Malabon (This is just the beginning of many MMDA projects here in Malabon)," the chairman added.
Mayor Sandoval expressed her gratitude to the MMDA and city government officials for their contribution to the rehabilitation of the city park.
"Today, we celebrate the blessing and inauguration of the Malabon's People's Park. We are thankful to many of you who have come and supported us every step of the way," said the mayor.
She also urged the public to preserve the order and cleanliness of the park.
In line with the event, the city government also held a water fountain display to showcase the newly installed lights and water fountain of the park.
