Barangay captain in Cebu nabbed after raid of house yields guns


CEBU CITY – A barangay captain in Toledo City, Cebu was arrested after police seized several firearms from his house in a raid on Tuesday morning, Nov. 29.

A .45 caliber pistol, a .357 magnum revolver, and ammunition were seized from the house of Climaco Barangay Captain Richard Dejoras Candilada, 43.

The raid was headed by Major Nazarino Emia, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cebu Provincial Field Unit.

The raid was conducted on an arrest warrant issued by Presiding Judge Anacleto Debalucos, the 3rd Vice Executive Judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 17 in Cebu City.

Aside from Candilada, another person was also arrested after he showed up in the barangay captain’s house carrying a firearm while the search was ongoing.

Police identified the suspect as Alnardo Camenero Dejoras, 41, who was caught with a KG9 rifle.

The two men were detained at the Toledo City Police Station pending the filing of formal charges against them, police said.
