70-year-old man dies in QC fire


A 70-year-old man died in a fire that gutted homes in St. Vincent Street, Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City on Monday morning, Nov. 28.

The Quezon City Fire District (QCFD) said the victim, Delfin Enerva, a resident of Barangay Holy Spirit, sustained a head injury when he fell to the ground while trying to escape from the fire.

He was rushed to a hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Senior Fire Officer IV Rolando Valena of the QCFD, investigator on case, said the fire was raised to first alarm at around 5:01 a.m. and was declared under control at around 5:52 a.m.

It was extinguished at around 6:22 a.m.

The number of families affected and the amount of damage to property caused by the fire are still being determined by authorities.

Arson probers are still investigating the cause of the fire which was reported to have originated from a bedroom on the second floor of a house in the area.
