4 robbery gang members preying on 24/7 convenience stores arrested thru GPS


CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Police arrested four suspected members of a robbery-holdup group preying on 24-hour convenience stores in Region 4-A on Saturday, Nov. 26, after their hideout in Taguig City was located through the Global Positioning System of a stolen cellphone.

Police Regional Office 4-A (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area) director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. identified the suspects as Larry Perez Gilbero, Jr., 20, of Paco, Manila; and Jessierell Cañete Eusebio, 22; John Clister del Rosario Balderama, 19, and Diosdado Manahan Tamondong Jr., 19, all residents of Taguig.

The suspects wearing jackets, maong pants, caps, and face masks allegedly robbed a convenience store on Friday, Nov. 25, in Imus City, Cavite and carted away P30,000 and four mobile phones.

Police tracked them to their hideout after reviewing surveillance footage on their escape route and the GPS installed in one of the stolen mobile phones.

Lawmen arrested the suspects and confiscated two caliber .38 pistols with defaced serial numbers, a caliber .22 pistol, assorted ammunition, assorted stolen mobile phones, a hand grenade, and a blue motorcycle positively identified by the convenience store crew as the getaway vehicle used by the suspects.

Investigation found out that the suspects had been involved in a series of robbery incidents in Calabarzon.

Police are preparing an airtight against the suspects.

Nartatez lauded the immediate arrest of the suspects. “These are notorious robbers who target convenience stores operating 24 hours. Thus, I am encouraging all store owners and other establishments to tighten their security in order to prevent similar incidents.”
