TNT eyes repeat in Leg 4 of PBA 3x3 Second Conference

TNT tries to make it two in a row in the PBA 3x3 Second Conference Season 2 as Leg 4 gets underway Saturday, Nov. 26 at Robinsons Malabon.

Almond Vosotros expected to lead the Tropang Giga anew as TNT eyes second straight leg title (PBA Images)

The Tropang Giga won the previous leg at the expense of Cavitex, 21-17, as Almond Vosotros pulled off one of the most amazing scoring performances in the young history of the half-court game, exploding for 12 straight points in a five-minute stretch to tow the team to the come-from-behind win.

Vosotros will again lead TNT’s bid to become the first team to win back-to-back crown this conference as he joins Lervin Flores, Gryann Mendoza, and the returning Samboy De Leon in their title campaign.

The Tropang Giga, also the Leg 1 champion who hasn’t missed the finals yet in the conference, leads Pool A with Terrafirma and Blackwater, and kick off their drive for the championship against the Red President in the fifth game of another heavy 12-match schedule in pool play.

Cavitex is in Pool B together with NorthPort and San Miguel, which parades for the first time the brother-tandem of Chris and Carlo De Chavez to go along with Wendell Comboy and Jammer Jamito.

The rest of the grouping will have Meralco, Platinum Karaoke, and Purefoods bunched in Pool C, and Barangay Ginebra in Pool D along with J&T Express, and Pioneer Elastoseal.

Eight teams are going to advance to the knockout stage set Sunday, with the two survivors of the semifinal phase disputing the P100,000 top purse at stake in the finals.

Meanwhile, halfway through the conference TNT also leads the Top 10 teams in contention for the grand finals slated next month.

The Tropang Giga occupy the top spot followed by Cavitex, J&T Express, Barangay Ginebra, Platinum Karaoke, Terrafirma 3x3, Meralco, Purefoods, Pioneer Elastoseal, and San Miguel.

NorthPort and Blackwater are outside the Magic 10, but still have three more legs to compete and accumulate the necessary Tour points.

The top four teams after the six-leg tour will advance outright in the quarterfinals, while teams 5 to 10 are going to play in a pool phase to determine the four others which will advance to the next round.

The two teams at the bottom are eliminated outright.
