RMFB-Central Visayas on alert after ambush of 2 intel troopers in Negros


CEBU CITY – The Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Central Visayas (RMFB-7) expressed sympathy and condolences on the death of two soldiers in an ambush in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Nov. 24.

RMFB-7 commander Lt. Col. Ronan Claravall said they are saddened by the deaths of Sgt. Regie Glendro and Staff Sgt. Ken Camilan, intelligence operatives of the Philippine Army 47th Infantry Battalion (IB) based in Barangay Haba, Candoni, Negros Occidental.

The victims were ambushed by the New People's Army in Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City while they were reportedly on their way to conduct local peace engagement coordination in the area.

"We are deeply saddened with what happened to our colleagues from the Army. We extend our condolences to the bereaved families," said Claravall.

The RMFB-7 based in Sibonga, Cebu is helping in the efforts to arrest the perpetrators.

The RMFB-7 has two units in Negros Oriental – the 704th Maneuver Company (MC) in Mabinay town and the 705th MC in Santa Catalina town.

"We will extend help to our counterparts in their efforts to arrest the perpetrators. We are doubling our efforts in intelligence gathering," said Claravall.

Claravall said the RMFB-7 is on full alert considering that the ambush happened in the neighboring region.

"Our personnel is on alert status so they can readily respond to any eventuality or in case there will be a spillover," said Claravall.
