PH Red Cross reports over 4K medically assisted individuals since start of November

Over 4,000 individuals from different parts of the country received medical assistance from Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Health Caravan from Nov. 1 to 20.

They were from Davao del Sur, Davao de Oro, General Santos City, Sarangani, Iloilo, Olongapo City, Ilocos Norte, Baguio City, and Zamboanga City, PRC said on Friday, Nov. 25.

The Health Caravan, PRC noted, is an initiative of its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon who aims to bring medical aid close to people living in the most vulnerable areas.

PRC added that it also serves as an avenue for nurses and doctors who want to volunteer for the organization.

"The Red Cross, with its volunteers, is always ready to provide essential health and medical services to our fellow Filipinos, including in the aftermath of a hazard event, when people could be susceptible to diseases," Gordon said.

A total of 12,000 people nationwide were already served by the PRC Health Caravan since the start of 2022.

Some of the services it offers are "health consultation, health and hygiene promotion, first aid lecture demonstration, Covid-19 vaccination, and bloodletting and blood typing services."

Hot meals and health kits are also being given to beneficiaries in some areas, PRC said.
