Mayor Olivarez expresses support for Parañaque's anti-violence against women and children program


Parañaque City Mayor Eric de Leon Olivarez expressed on Friday, Nov. 25 his full support for the City Health Office’s (CHO) “Juana Be Wais : Communicating Violence Prevention” program that seeks to raise awareness on violence against women and children (VAWC).

CHO Head Dra. Olga Virtusio led the launch of the “Juana Be Wais: Communicating Violence Prevention” program at Greenheights Ave. San Isidro, Parañaque on Friday.

The mayor mentioned that the city government is also running a “Women Crisis Center,” located at the Bulungan (Fisherman’s Wharf) along Barangay La Huerta that is supervised by licensed social workers.

Olivarez also invited all women to take part in the skills training of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in city barangays.

He said residents who aspire to finish their education and earn a college degree can enroll at the Parañaque City College or at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines- Parañaque branch.

The mayor also signed the “Pledge of Commitment: Wakasan ang Karahasan” to continuously support the protection of women and children’s rights by upholding its obligation to prevent all forms of gender-based violence.

Meanwhile, Women and Children's Protection Desk (WCPD) officers Dr. Pauline Navarro and Lt. Joselyn Sibal conducted a seminar on the rights of women and children.
