Crimes against children in Pangasinan gradually decreasing – PNP

LINGAYEN -- The Pangasinan Police reported that the number of crimes committed against children has been decreasing gradually in the province from 2018 to 2022.

The Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) noted a decreasing number of cases each year from 2018, with the lowest recorded this year ending the five-year period.

From January to November 15 this year, there are only 178 recorded cases involving children who were victims of rape, homicide, and murder, and physical injury, robbery with homicide, theft, and violation to the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.

There were 319 cases of children’s abuse and other crimes recorded in 2018, 346 in 2019, 284 in 2020, and 246 in 2021.

The police data revealed that violation of Republic Act 8353 or the Anti-Rape Law of 1997 has the most number of offenses recorded against children.
