MB Daily News Update: VP Harris reaffirms US commitments to PH

United States Vice President Kamala Harris held talks with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte to reassure the Filipino officials of her government’s support for the country’s various concerns from nuclear energy, regional defense, the South China Sea, and Covid-19.

Interestingly, Harris’ visit came as personnel of a naval station in the West Philippine Sea nearly had an encounter with elements of the Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) over what was an unidentified object found floating off Pag-asa Island.

Meanwhile, the Ultra Lotto draw remained without a winner as the jackpot is expected to increase further from P258 million.

And with health restriction eased, the Manila Zoo was opened in full splendor for the public to enjoy.

These are just some of the major stories this Monday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2022, in MB’s roster of reports.

‘NO TO MORE RECLAMATION’ – Members of the militant fisherfolk group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) stage a protest at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) head office in Quezon City on World Fisheries Day, Monday, Nov. 21, 2022. The group protested the continued reclamation projects across the country that threaten marine biodiversity, fish stocks and livelihood rights of small fisherfolk. (Mark Balmores)
