K-pop powerhouse BTS made history at the 2022 American Music Awards (AMAs), held on Nov. 20 at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles.
BTS won the AMAs’ Favorite Pop Duo or Group, the fourth straight year that they bagged the award. They first won the award in 2019.
With their triumph, they are the artist with the most wins in the Favorite Pop Duo or Group category.
The other nominees in the category this year were Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Måneskin and OneRepublic.
The AMAs introduced a new category this year–Favorite K-pop Artist. The nominees were BLACKPINK, BTS, Seventeen, Tomorrow X Together and TWICE.
It was announced during the show that BTS won the first AMAs for Favorite K-pop Artist.
In addition, BTS won the AMAs Fan Favorite to bring their total haul to three awards.
Tomorrow X Together attended the AMAs ceremony for the first time.
The winners of the AMAs were all voted by fans. Nominees in 37 categories were selected based on key fan interactions through Billboard charts including streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay, and tour grosses.
These were tracked by Billboard and Luminate covering the eligibility period of Sept. 24, 2021, to Sept. 22, 2022.
