Army to intensify anti-insurgency campaign in Kalinga


The Army 5th Infantry Division has vowed to intensify its anti-insurgency campaign in Kalinga province.

Brig. Gen. Audrey Pasia, commander of the 5th ID based in Camp Melchor dela Cruz in Gamu, Isabela, said during the joint Provincial Development Council and Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting on Friday, Nov. 18, that they will relentlessly seek peace and justice.

"We will see to it that these remnants of communist terrorist group in Kalinga will pay the consequences of their atrocities to the people, be it uniformed or innocent civilians. We warn them of intensified operations we will be launching against them," Pasia said.

During the meeting, the implementation of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program to rebel returnees in Kalinga and the update on the government programs from the execution of the community support program to its transition to retooled community support program were discussed.

"Through the whole-of-nation approach, we are winning against the insurgents,” Pasia said.

He also added that infrastructure projects for different communities through the Support to Barangay Development Program of the National Task Force-End Local Communist Armed Conflict will be completed soon.

Kalinga Provincial Board Member Danzel Langkit strongly reaffirmed the persona non grata declaration of the people of the province against the CPP-NPA-NDF which was unanimously affirmed by the members of Provincial Peace and Order Council.
