House members launch relief drive for rain-battered Davao town


After torrential rains caused severe flooding throughout the Davao Region, House Speaker Martin Romualdez and his fellow congressmen initiated a relief drive for the affected residents of Malalag town, Davao Del Sur in Mindanao.

From Friday, Nov. 18, to Sunday, Nov. 20, Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda Romualdez and Jude Acidre distributed 1,000 food packs, while the Office of the Speaker distributed 1,300 food packs.

“In keeping with our commitment to provide relief and assistance, we immediately respond to help our people who are in desperate need of food and other basic necessities in times of calamities,” Acidre said in a statement on Nov. 20.

Meanwhile, support groups of the Tingog Party-list led the distribution of lugaw (rice porridge) and offered temporary shelter to the affected Malalag townspeople.
