NPA leader in Laguna surrenders

SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna – A leader of the New People’s Army in Laguna surrendered to the police here on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The surrenderer was identified as Randy Jeremias, alias “Emil,” second deputy secretary for education of the Komiteng Probinsya, Provincial White Area Committee.

The 45-year-old communist guerrilla yielded a caliber .380 with ammunition and subversive documents.

Jeremias said he decided to surrender after almost 11 years of serving the communist movement because of the delay in financial support to his family and operational expenses.

In addition, he said no longer believes that the revolution will succeed in the future because of personal interests within their leadership and widespread corruption in the organization.

Authorities will validate and examine the subversive documents while the firearm will be subjected to ballistic examination.
