Shawarma Shack extends help to ‘Paeng’ victims in San Pedro, Laguna


Last October 29, 2022, severe tropical storm Paeng made landfall in the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon (Calabarzon) region, bringing heavy to torrential rains and strong winds.

San Pedro, Laguna was one of the many areas severely affected by typhoon Paeng, and, in less than 24 hours, numerous incidents of landslides and flash floods caused  1,256 residents to evacuate their homes as the city was placed under a state of calamity.

Learning of the situation of the area, the Shawarma Shack Relief Operations team, headed by “Godfather of Shawarma” Walther Uzi Buenavista, immediately reached out to the San Pedro, Laguna government to coordinate the delivery and distribution of relief goods with the help of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

The Shawarma Shack Relief Operations team went to San Pedro, Laguna, bringing trucks filled with food packages and clean drinking water. 

They were welcomed by San Pedro City officials led by Mayor Art Mercado, Vice Mayor Ina Olivarez, and Councilors Nina Almoro, Sonny Mendoza, Marky Oliveros, Aldrin Mercado, Vivi Villegas, Mike Casacop, and VJ Solidum. P/Lt. Col. Victor Aclan and his team, and Sandy Lee Domingo also coordinated with different concerned groups to make the relief operations possible. 

Head of Marketing and Communications, Ervin Andaya and Head of Purchasing Rowel Elmido leads the distribution of food packages and clean drinking water.

Hundreds of families came out to welcome the Shawarma Shack Relief Operations team, knowing that they would be receiving help from the company on Nov. 6, 2022.
