Robert Nazal of MAGSASAKA Party-list made this affirmation last Nov. 9 in front of the participants of Luzon-wide territorial and sectoral strategic planning organized by the party-list.

“We have a lot of work to do — farmers and their families are struggling today, and they deserve a champion in Congress who will advance their welfare and interests,” said Nazal, who last Oct. 10 took his oath as member of the House of Representatives before Judge Jose Paneda of Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 220.

He told the participants that the opportunity to represent farmers in the Philippine legislature was his “greatest honor".

MAGSASAKA is one of the 55 party-list organizations that won in the May 9, 2022 elections. It had obtained 272,737 votes, entitling it to one House seat in the 19th Congress.

During the Nov. 9 event, Nazal unveiled the party-list group’s medium-term development plan, which focuses on membership expansion with the aim of reaching more farmers and fisherfolk.

He says MAGSASAKA is currently focused on providing delivery of basic social services such as medical, scholarships, burial, calamity and livelihood assistance.

The event was attended by MAGSASAKA territorial and sectoral leaders from eight regions of Luzon, namely, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and National Capital Region (NCR). They pledged their backing of Nazal and the party-list.
