Signed by Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Epimaco Densing III, the agency issued DepED Memorandum No. 101 s. 2022 entitled “2022 National Observance of Filipino Values Month.”

DepED cited Presidential Proclamation No. 479 titled Declaring the Month of November of Every Year as Filipino Values Month was signed on Oct. 25, 1994, by the late President Fidel V. Ramos to “create moral awakening and national consciousness on human values that are unique, genuine, and positively Filipino.”

With this declaration, DepED noted that Filipinos of all ages and from all sectors of society are enjoined to actively participate in this annual observance.

In compliance with the proclamation and “ensure realization of its goal,” DepED joins the nation in this year’s celebration of the FVM with the theme, “Magagandang Kaugaliang Pilipino: Isabuhay at Pagyamanin Tungo sa Matiwasay at Maunlad na Kinabukasan.”

“This year’s them focuses on how Filipino values can be strengthened and exercised in the life of each Filipino that can contribute to nation-building and achievement of individual and national goals,” DepED said.

During the month-long observance, DepED noted that all schools --- both public and private --- are “encouraged to integrate the Filipino values in the teaching-learning activities, not only in Edukasyon Pagpapakatao (EsP) but also in all the different learning areas.”

Likewise, DepED noted that such values can also be “incorporated in the activities of the different celebrations” of the month such as the National Children's Month, Economic and Financial Literacy Week, Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week, Araw ng Pagbasa, National Week for the Gifted and Talented, National Science and Technological Week, and other co-curricular activities.

“The DepEd offices regional, division, district, and school levels in collaboration with other stakeholders may create campaign and advocacy materials anchored on the theme to increase awareness among learners and community people,” the agency said.

During the celebration of the FVM, DepED reminded that the minimum public health standards and Inter-Agency Task Force rulings shall be “observed to prevent and minimize the spread” of Covid- 19 in the country.

Through the Bureau of Learning Delivery (BLD), regional and schools division offices, DepED said that it shall “continuously support the observance of FVM through monitoring, provision of technical assistance, and feedback of the implementation of activities during the month-long celebration of the FVM to ensure sustainability of promoting Filipino values in the entire basic education system.”

Meanwhile, DepED also reminded schools that activities relative to the observance of the FVM shall be held under DepEd Order (DO) No. 9, s. 2005, titled Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith and DO 034, s. 2022, titled School Calendar and Activities for the School Year 2022-2023.
