QCPD arrests man for gun possession, cable theft

Operatives of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) La Loma Police Station (PS 1) arrested a man for allegedly stealing cable wires and for possession of an improvised shotgun in Quezon City on Thursday, Nov. 10.

Lt. Col. Garman Manabat, La Loma Station (PS 1) commander, identified the arrested suspect as Francis Ivan Mangalos, 28, of Barangay Manresa, Quezon City. His cohort, Jhong Escarda, of Barangay Pag-ibig sa Nayon, Quezon City, managed to flee.

According to the police report, PS 1 officers were conducting an anti-criminality patrol in Barangay Pag-ibig sa Nayon when they saw the suspects cutting PLDT cables in front of 4AC Truck Parts Trading at the corner of A. Bonifacio Avenue and Marvex Drive at about 1:00 a.m.

Police said Mangalos was immediately arrested while Estrada escaped.

Confiscated from the suspect were 25 pieces of cable wires approximately nine meters long worth P10,702, a wood cutting saw, a plastic sack, and an improvised firearm.

The suspect will be charged for violations of Republic Act (RA) 10515 or the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013 and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act, police said.
