Terrafirma import Lester Prosper expressed his willingness to lend a hand on embattled JRU forward John Amores following his rampage that saw him charge towards the College of St. Benilde bench and punched two players during their game in the NCAA Season 98 men’s basketball tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
In a Facebook post, Prosper believed the controversial Heavy Bomber needs help more than hate at this point and he is willing to lend an ear and offer some advice to Amores who have now figured on three separate altercations in just a four-month span.
“John, you should come have dinner with me, hit me up king, let’s talk !!! Me and you. Someone please deliver this message to him. I got some advice for you king to help save your career and what you can do to be better moving forward,” wrote Prosper.
“We don’t give up on each other,” he added.
All hell broke loose at the final 3:22 mark in the lopsided contest when Amores had a short altercation with CSB’s Mark Sangco. It looked like things were under control already when Amores was pulled by his teammates over the JRU bench but Amores went charging at the opposite side of the court before hitting Blazers players Jimboy Pasturan and Taine Davis.
The match was eventually halted with Benilde being declared as a winner after leading 71-51 during the stoppage.
Curiously, it was not the first time that Amores was figured in a fracas as he also punched UP’s Mark Belmonte during the PG Flex Linoleum – UCBL Invitationals last July and had a brief verbal tussle with Letran’s Kobe Monje in the end game of their match in the first round of the eliminations.
“You never know what someone’s going through in life, maybe I can help, if not, it’s okay. I just know how it feels to have built up anger and no one is there to talk to and give you real advice, especially at that age,” added the 6-foot-10 slotman.
The NCAA Management Committee is conducting an investigation regarding the incident headed by Fr. Vic Calvo of Letran, Peter Cayco of Arellano and Hercules Callanta of LPU.
