Unlicensed guns, bullets seized in Laguna


NAGCARLAN, Laguna – Unlicensed firearms and bullets were seized from the leader of a group of environmental defenders in Barangay Tipacan here on Sunday, Nov. 6.

The suspect was identified as Vincent Conejos, 35, an administrative staff of the Paranaque City Hall and a resident of Barangay San Antonio, Paranaque.

Police received and verified a report from a concerned citizen about several gunshots in the area.

Authorities accosted several individuals who identified themselves as members and jungle survival trainees of the Philippine Wildlife Sentinel based in Camp Lawin, Binan City, Laguna in Barangay Tipacan.

Conejos was caught in possession of a long firearm and other guns at the back his vehicle. The suspect was arrested after he failed to present pertinent documents for the weapons.

He yielded five M15 rifles, a shotgun, two rifle magazines loaded with bullets, six long magazines, 21 rounds of assorted ammunition, two hand-held radios, two military uniforms, four military vests, and a military bandolier.

Conejos is now under the custody of the Nagcarlan Municipal Police Station while charges are being prepared against the suspect.
