ASUS is firing up all cylinders, launching devices with impressive specs sheets. We’re still enjoying our orbit with the Space Edition of the Zenbook 14X. And now, ASUS hands us the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED.
The ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED is all about power and production. It’s beefier-looking, a sign that it’s ready to take on multiple heavy tasks at once. It’s built in a whole metal chassis design and remains lightweight enough for mobility. It’s military grade 810H standard, meaning it has passed rigorous environmental testing, such as extreme temperature, moisture, dust and shock, are among the few that the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED has passed, and that means you can virtually take your work anywhere and it will be ready for whatever environmental working conditions you set it up in.
The OLED this laptop ships in features 4K HDR resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and what ASUS called NanoEdge – a technological design that allows content creators to work freely with more screen space. It’s Pantone Validated, meaning you’ll be getting the most accurate colors on display, which is highly critical when doing work in photography and videos.
The touchpad is massive, spacious, and very responsive. The ASUS DialPad is also present here, of course. If you aren’t familiar with what that feature is, it’s ASUS’ own dial integrated into the touchpad. No need for any additional hardware that can take up extra space. The DialPad is designed to streamline your workflow. It’s perfect for adjusting screen brightness or volume. It’s usefulness extends to other software, such as increasing or decreasing the size of the brush, changing the opacity of the background, switching to different colors, adjusting exposure and color saturation, and more. It’s a solid and handy feature that keeps your setup simple without needing to acquire additional hardware. But acting like a sure and true replacement for an actual dial isn’t the point, it’s that the presence of the ASUS DialPad makes the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED versatile and easier to carry your work around by easing off some weight during travel. No need to pack too much, is what I mean. The DialPad is fully compatible with your Adobe apps, ensuring that your work process is easier and simpler. The DialPad supports After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom Classic.
The keyboard falls into ASUS’ ErgoSense design. Not only does it look great, but it’s a pleasant and satisfying typing experience. Each key is soft and has that solid click and clack, which adds to that workflow sensation.
The unit we received featured an Intel Core i9 processor, NVIDIA RTX 3060, and 16GM RAM. ASUS also offers a 3070 Ti and up to 32GB of RAM as an option, with one upgradable SO-DIMM. This specs ensures you would be able to run with a consistent top performance with fast video rendering and snappy app switching. Also, at some point we all need to chill for a bit, and with the specs that comes with the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED, we have no doubt it can do well in gaming. Go ahead, blow some steam for a while.
All this heavy lifting wouldn’t break a sweat on the ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED. It features ASUS IceCool technology, which comprises dual-fans and quad vents for efficient cooling. Cooler the laptop, the more performance you get and the more battery is preserved.
Its speakers come from Harman Kardon, which boasts impressive sounds. And this is backed with Dolby Atmos for multi-dimensional audio. It features an AI Noise canceling 3-mic array, which cuts down noise. Also, you can put away the black tape, as ASUS installed a shield to keep your webcam from snooping on you.
The ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED comes with a good number of ports at your disposal: One 40Gbps Thunderbolt 4, one USB Type C port, HDMI 2.1, 2.5GbE wired LAN port, a microSD reader up to over 900MB, and two USB 3.2 Type A.
