Municipality of Gloria in Oriental Mindoro awarded SGLG seal

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The town of Gloria in this province was awarded the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) this year.

Gloria Mayor German “Bitoy” Rodegerio said he is elated by the award given by the Department of Interior and Local Government annually to give recognition to remarkable performance and integrity of local government units nationwide.

“SGLG has a very strict selection process. If you fail in one category, you are no longer eligible to get any award,” Rodegerio said.

Gloria is the lone municipal SGLG awardee on the island in 2022.

The Seal of Good Local Governance is an assessment system that sets criteria in various fields such as administration and sustainability, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity, health compliance and responsiveness, sustainable education, safety, peace, and order, business friendliness and competitiveness, tourism, heritage development and culture, and arts and youth development.

SGLG was institutionalized by Republic Act 11292 in 2021.

Its predecessor was the Seal of Good Housekeeping introduced in 2010 and evolved as SGLG in 2014.

Gloria is 86 kilometers south of the provincial capital Calapan City.
