DICT launches free webinars, continues to advocate for Filipinos’ participation in ICT programs

As part of its goal to provide Filipinos the access to vital information and communications technology services, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) launched a series of webinars, covering the promotion of a “safe and secure cyberspace for all.”

Over 400 attendees have benefitted from the said webinars. Most of them were local government officials, educators, employees of telecommunication companies, as well as DICT’s development partners.

“We encourage our citizens to take part in these webinar series because it is they who will benefit greatly from the DICT’s initiatives. It is important to know what programs are available to Filipinos before they can take part in them,” said DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy on Monday, Nov. 7.

“A citizenry that is well-informed can effectively take advantage of the nation’s digital transformation,” Uy added.

The initiative began on Oct. 17 and ended on Nov. 7, covering relevant policies such as digitization of government services and the National Broadband Plan. DICT, in time for the celebration of National Children’s Month, likewise launched a campaign against online sexual abuse and exploitation.
