Police net P247,000 shabu, marijuana in Calabarzon


CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Suspected shabu and marijuana totaling P247,121 were seized in the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area or Region 4-A, police said on Friday, Nov. 4.

Police Regional Office 4-A director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said that the illegal drugs were seized by police anti-drug units in 18 separate anti-illegal drug operations from 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Nov. 2 to 3.

Twenty-seven suspected drug pushers were arrested, with Christian Jonel Bermudo Babagay, alias “Jonel,’’ yielding the biggest amount.

Babagay was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Antipolo City on Nov. 2, Wednesday, and had P121,500 worth of high-grade marijuana also known as “kush” on him.

The suspect is a college student and listed as a high-value individual of the Antipolo City Police Station.

The operations were conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 4-A. Authorities netted a total of 18.32 grams of shabu and 1,000 grams of marijuana valued at P247,121.

Suspects will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 or Republic Act 9165.
