Maguindanao municipal election officer hurt in Cotabato City gun attack

COTABATO CITY (PNA) – An unidentified gunman shot and wounded a municipal election officer of the Maguindanao town of Datu Odin Sinsuat while he was buying bananas in a roadside fruit stall here at past noon on Friday, Nov. 4.

The victim, Raufen Mangelen, was on his way home from Friday prayers when he was attacked at about 12:45 p.m. in front of a fruit stand at the corner of Gov. Gutierrez and Sinsuat Avenues.

Lawyer Udtog Tago, Maguindanao provincial election supervisor, said Mangelen sustained two bullet wounds in the left arm and is now recuperating in an undisclosed hospital.

“I don’t know if he has threats on his life,” Tago told reporters in an interview.

He said Mangelen did not mention anything about intimidation when they were together in Barangay Kusiong, Datu Odin Sinsuat, for a humanitarian mission for victims of severe tropical storm ‘’Paeng’’ recently.

“He has not mentioned anything about threats,” Tago said.

Police are still conducting a post-crime investigation.
