K-pop group T-ara's Jiyeon, baseball player announce wedding date

K-pop girl group T-ara member Jiyeon and her boyfriend, who is a professional baseball player, have finally announced the date of their wedding.

Back in February, Jiyeon, 29, and Hwang Jae-gyun, 35, who plays for baseball team KT Wiz, announced that they were getting married.

Nine months later, they finally announced the date of their wedding.

"Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun will have a private wedding on December 10 in some place in Seoul," said ANB Group, Jiyeon’s agency.

A Korean media outlet reported that the wedding will take place at The Shilla Seoul hotel. The date of the wedding coincides with the end of the baseball season.

On why they announced the wedding date only now, Hwang Jae-gyun told Korean media, "During the season when I was concentrating on the game, I thought that it could create a slightly disturbing atmosphere for our team KT Wiz, which is running hard with one goal of winning because of my dating or marriage articles."

Last Feb. 10, Jiyeon announced she was getting married to Hwang Jae-gyun, the same day that Hyun Bin and Seon Ye-jin announced they were getting married.

"I have a boyfriend whom I met with good feelings last year through an acquaintance. He always considers me first, cherishes me, and tells me that happiness is a gift in my life. We promised to get married in the coming winter," wrote Jiyeon on Instagram, according to Korean media outlet Dispatch.

Jiyeon debuted in T-ara in 2009 and is also into acting.

"I'm going to live a happy life with a reliable boyfriend who firmly held me during my unstable situation, he gave me a shoulder to lean on,” she added.

Hwang Jae-gyun also took to Instagram to announce his marriage to Jiyeon.

"I have a person I want to be with for the rest of my life. I met her during a difficult time last year and decided to get married with her who held me tight and helped me a lot just by being by my side" he said.
