The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Tuesday, Nov. 1, said that it is welcoming monetary and in-kind donations as support for its ongoing relief operations for communities devastated by tropical storm Paeng.
The donations, PRC added, will be used for immediate and long-term recovery projects for the affected individuals.
"Our volunteers and staff have been working non-stop for the past six days to immediately respond to families affected by Paeng. We have deployed food trucks, payloaders, and water tankers to help thousands of affected individuals," said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon.
PRC said it is monitoring 44 provinces, 11 of which have ongoing relief operations: Cotabato-Maguindanao, Capiz, Masbate, Leyte-Hilongos, Cebu, Western Samar - Catbalogan, Northern Samar, Camarines Norte, Sultan Kudarat, Zamboanga City, and Antique.
The organization added that hot meals were served to a total of 21,007 individuals who sought temporary shelter in evacuation centers, ports, and terminals.
Welfare desks, shelter tool kits, food packs, drinking water, and face masks were also dispensed.
"Payloaders are positioned in strategic areas, one of which is positioned in Sta. Rosa Laguna to conduct cleaning operations," it added.
Moreover, child-friendly spaces and psychosocial first aid were provided to 1,500 persons to help them cope with the trauma brought by Paeng's onslaught.
Eight hundred eighty-three individuals also received hygiene kits from PRC.
PRC then assured the public that monitoring and assessment activities are ongoing to further determine the needs of the distressed communities.
