Citing data as of Oct. 31, DepED said that 261 schools sustained damages in the aftermath of “Paeng” which hit the country last week.

DepED noted that 381 classrooms were also “totally damaged” while 528 schools are still being used as Evacuation Centers (ECs).

“Please note that the numbers are moving on a daily basis,” DepED Spokesperson Michael Poa told reporters in a Viber message.

“Assessments and vetting of reports from the field are still ongoing,” he added.

Poa also noted that there were some local government units (LGUs) that declared the cancellation of classes due to the effects of “Paeng” and other recent disasters that struck the country.
