ILOILO CITY – The national government assured the officials and residents of Antique and Capiz – two provinces that were also affected by Typhoon Paeng’s onslaught – that aid will come their way for their speedy recovery.
Senior Undersecretary Jose Faustino Jr. of the Department of National Defense relayed the Marcos administration’s promise after the government’s conduct of site inspection on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
“The national government is here to support,” said Faustino, who also serves as the executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Faustino was joined by Secretaries Benjamin Abalos of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Manuel Bonoan of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Undersecretary Allan Tanjusay of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Undersecretary Raymundo Ferrer, who is the administrator of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
The visit came the same day President Marcos Jr. included Western Visayas (where Antique and Capiz belong to) under state of calamity.
Among those discussed were additional emergency aid from the DSWD as well as augmentation of hygiene kits from the Department of Health (DOH).
Also discussed was the possible resettlement of those whose houses were either partially damaged or totally damaged.
