CEBU CITY – The City of Danao was one of the local government units (LGUs) to be awarded with the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for 2022.
Aside from Danao, the other city in Cebu province to get the SGLG is Talisay City.
The towns of Sogod and Sam Remegio also received the award for municipalities.
Institutionalized with the enactment of Republic Act No. 11292 or the SGLG Act, the SGLG Award is an incentive, honor, and recognition-based program that aims to boost the LGUs’ drive to constantly progress and sustain notable performances across various governance areas.
SGLG criteria includes financial administration and sustainability; disaster preparedness; social protection and sensitivity; health compliance and responsiveness; and, sustainable education.
Other assessment areas are business-friendliness and competitiveness; safety and peace and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture, and arts; and youth development.
Danao Mayor Mix Durano expressed elation over winning the SGLG award.
“This is an overwhelming success for us. The City of Danao has been working hard not just to achieve the good governance that our people deserve under our administration, but more so, we always strive to make our services, available, visible, and accessible to every Danawanon,” he said
“I am thankful to everyone who worked hard for this achievement of city. If all gets united, it would not be impossible to achieve our goals,” the mayor added.
