1,353 policemen secure ‘Undas’ in Eastern Visayas


TACLOBAN CITY – A total of 1,353 cops were deployed in Eastern Visayas for the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day on Nov. 1 and 2.

Lt. Col. Bella Rentuaya, Eastern Visayas police information officer, said they are manning 491 police assistance desks in cemeteries, memorial parks, and other places of convergence.

A total of 2,274 force multipliers were also assigned to augment the police and assist the public who are visiting their departed loved ones in cemeteries.

Police Regional Office-8 chief Brig. Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said PRO-8 has been on full alert status since Oct. 29 to ensure a peaceful observance of “Undas.”

Marbil added that the mobilization of personnel aims to intensify incident monitoring and swift response to issues on the ground.

He said police will strictly implement the prohibition of liquor consumption, gambling, bringing sharp objects and or firearms, playing loud music, and other illegal activities inside cemeteries.

"Penalties will be charged to any person caught in the act of violating set guidelines. Also, this PRO will help implement the minimum public health standards (MPHS)."
