Sea trips to Cebu, Iloilo from Negros resume


BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) allowed the resumption of sea trips here and Negros Occidental to Cebu, Iloilo, and vice-versa on Sunday, Oct. 30, after Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 hoisted in the Visayas due to severe tropical storm “Paeng” was lifted on Saturday night, Oct. 29.

Commander Joe Luviz Mercurio, head of the Philippine Coast Guard-Northern Negros Occidental, said that all vessels for Daanbantayan, Cebu via Cadiz Commercial Port, Dumangas, Iloilo via Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) Port and Banago Port here, Iloilo via Bredco Port, Tabuelan, Cebu via Sagay City and Escalante City, and Toledo City, Cebu via San Carlos City and vice-versa may now resume trips.

PCG suspended sea trips due to Paeng last Friday. As a result, 1,044 passengers and 353 cargoes were stranded in various seaports in Western Visayas.
