‘Paeng’ weakens into a tropical storm

Cyclone Paeng (international name: Nalgae) has weakened into a tropical storm and is about to exit the landmass of Luzon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on early Sunday morning, Oct. 30.

Paeng was last detected in the vicinity of Candelaria, Zambales with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 140 kph.

“Paeng is forecast to re-intensify into a severe tropical storm over the West Philippine Sea. On the forecast track, this tropical cyclone may exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) ,” said PAGASA in its 2 a.m. bulletin.

Although it has weakened, the weather disturbance will still bring heavy to intense rains over Zambales, Bataan, and the northern portion of mainland Cagayan.

Moderate to heavy rains may prevail over the rest of mainland Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Pangasinan, and the rest of Central Luzon while light to moderate with at times heavy rains may persist over Western Visayas, Metro Manila, and the rest of Luzon.
