10,549 flee ‘Paeng’ in Central Luzon


Police said 10,549 individuals were evacuated in six provinces in Central Luzon due to severe tropical storm “Paeng.”

A report from Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen on Sunday, Oct. 30, said 4,143 evacuees are from Aurora, 2,875 in Bataan, 3,095 in Bulacan, 22 in Nueva Ecija, 138 in Pampanga, 114 in Zambales, and 171 in Angeles City.

Forty-two areas were flooded and 40 were without electricity. Four roads were impassable.

Lt. Col. Magtangol G. Panapio, 77th Infantry Battalion commander, said they are in constant coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils for a synchronized rescue operation.

The provincial government of Isabela, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), has provided assistance to local government units (LGUs) affected by Paeng.

The PSWDO said 2,400 family food packs are ready for distribution.

One-thousand five-hundred family food packs will be distributed to affected barangays in Cabagan, Santo Tomas, Delfin Albano, and Santa Maria and 900 for Echague, Alicia, Luna, and San Guillermo.

Paeng affected 9,923 families or 12,728 persons in 110 barangays in 17 municipalities and cities in Isabela.
