3,309 families evacuated due to ‘Paeng’ in Quezon


LUCENA CITY – Police said on Saturday, Oct. 29, that 3,309 families or 10,689 individuals have been evacuated and temporarily sheltered in various evacuation centers in Quezon due to severe tropical storm “Paeng.”

The Quezon Police Provincial Office said eleven are from Tayabas City, Agdangan, four; Atimonan, 315; Burdeos, 42; Calauag, 167; General Luna, 38; Guinayangan, 27; Gumaca, 156; Jomalig, 25; Lopez, two; Mulanay, 826; Panukulan, 845; Patnanungan, 20; Perez, 270; Pitogo, 263; Plaridel, 65; Polillo, 16; Real, 74; San Francisco, 17; and San Narciso, 126.

Power has been cut in Gumaca, Infanta, Unisan, Catanauan, Gumaca, Calauag, Macalelon, Panukulan, Jomalig, Polillo, Alabat, Pitogo, Perez, Sampaloc, General Luna, and Polillo.

Several vehicles and hundreds were stranded in various ports in the province. A Chinese cargo vessel with 21 crew was also stranded at sea in Pitogo.

The Philippine Coast Guard stations in southern Quezon and Batangas have suspended all sea trips.
