“Our Disaster Risk Reduction Management Teams are ready and we have full manpower deployed on every district’s area of responsibility for necessary clearing operations along our national highways,” said DPWH 8 Regional Director Edgar B. Tabacon.

Citing a report from the Maintenance and Equipment Management Divisions, Tabacon also announced that the engineering equipment have already been pre-positioned all over the region. These will be used for immediate road clearing operations in the aftermath of the storm.

Meanwhile, Eastern Samar District Engineering Office reported that the road section at Binaloan, Taft, along the national road, Wright-Taft-Borongan Road, has been closed to all types of vehicles as of 10 a.m. due to the possible occurrence of a landslide.

Motorists are also advised to use the alternate route at Jct. Buenavista-Lawaan-Marabut Road.

“All of our field workers and DRRM teams continue to monitor road conditions. We also remind the public to travel with extra caution while ‘Paeng’ accelerates,” Tabacon noted.
