The victim was identified as Arnold Belocura, 57, of Barangay Zone 2.

Lt. Col. Gil John Despi, Cadiz police chief, said the victim was riding his bike on his way home when he was allegedly hit by a sports utility vehicle driven by Mark Besa, 40, also of Barangay Zone 2.

Despi said a heated argument followed when the victim reportedly confronted Besa about it.

Despi said that Besa was reportedly under the influence of liquor when he figured into an altercation with Belocura.

However, Besa got irked when the victim allegedly cursed at him, prompting the suspect to allegedly shoot the victim, hitting his right armpit.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, while Besa fled.

However, Besa was later arrested in a pursuit operation in Barangay 1-A, Manapla town after his car was spotted there.

Police recovered from Besa a .45 caliber pistol, magazine, four live ammunition, and an empty shell.

Based on the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera, Despi said the victim and the suspect really had an argument prior to the shooting.

Murder charges are being readied against Besa, who has yet to talk with the police about the incident.
