Marcos congratulates new UK Prime Minister Sunak


President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has congratulated Rishi Sunak on becoming the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK).

Marcos extended his well wishes to the new prime minister through a tweet on Wednesday, Oct. 26. He also expressed that he looks forward to the country's new government.

"We congratulate @RishiSunak, the Leader of the Conservative Party, for becoming the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. We look forward to a new government that will bring peace and stability in the UK," Marcos said.

Sunak officially assumed his post as Britain's 57th prime minister on Tuesday.

In his speech he vowed to unite his country with actions. "I will unite our country, not with words, but with action. I will work day in and day out to deliver for you," he said.

Meanwhile, Marcos met with former UK prime minister Tony Blair during the latter's courtesy call in Malacañang on Tuesday, Oct, 25.

They discussed a wide range of topics on bureaucracy and governance based on the best practices in developed countries, the Office of the Press Secretary said.
