JIL prays for Duterte; Bro. Eddie says VP could bring 'blessing' to PH

Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church founder and CIBAC Party-list Rep. Bro. Eddie Villanueva prayed for Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday, Oct. 26, as he noted how God will be pleased when leaders and authorities are blessed.

The "pray over" was done during JIL’s Church Worldwide’s Annual Leaders' Summit in Quezon City where the Vice President was a guest speaker.

"It is a command of God to pray for those who are in the authority. When you do the command of God, you will please the heart of God, and that will be a key for our nation to be blessed," Villanueva said.

The event was attended by around 1,000 pastors and leaders from all over the world.

In her speech, the Vice President called on the Church to participate in nation-building and urged it to play its role in guiding the youth toward the “right path.”

Duterte also expressed comfort that Church leaders like Villanueva are praying for the country.

"Personally, I found it comforting that the people of God has been praying for the nation. Your prayers have truly changed lives, one people at a time,” the official said.

“I hope that as we pray for healing, victory, and deliverance, we will also be blessed with the gift of unity as we walk in this post-pandemic world. We have nothing but prayers but prayers are everything. Thank you for your support especially for Bro. Eddie and all the JIL pastors,” she added.

The JIL Church was founded by Villanueva and will celebrate its 44th year anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 29.
