Commission on Audit (COA) Chairperson Gamaliel A. Cordoba has rallied the commission’s officials and personnel to be “partners” of government in rebuilding the Philippines from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cordoba pointed out that it is crucial that government resources should be spent "economically, efficiently, and expeditiously.”

"The Commission should facilitate this by enabling agencies to do their jobs better. We will be partners in rebuilding our country. We will be enablers," he declared.

Cordoba, who is also a lawyer, said he views the COA as a "big family," where everyone is expected to help each other.” Thus, he encouraged COA officials and personnel to "work as a single formidable unit" and encourage each other to deliver the best results.

"We shall constantly strive to earn the public’s trust as the Commission fulfills its mandates -- upholding an honest, professional, and dignified approach to all our daily tasks," he stressed.

To help COA auditors and other personnel to perform their best, Cordoba said that he will prioritize personnel welfare and lighten their workload by filling up vacant positions and training auditors to strengthen audit capability compliant with international standards.

Cordoba took over the post vacated by Jose C. Calida, the former solicitor general who gave up his COA post due to health reasons.
