Classes in 4 Biliran towns suspended due to ‘Paeng’

TACLOBAN CITY – Four municipalities in Biliran province have suspended classes on all levels due to tropical depression “Paeng” on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

The municipalities of Kawayan, Cabucgayan, Caibiran, and Naval cancelled classes due to heavy rains as the low-pressure area east of Eastern Visayas developed into the tropical depression at around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in the provinces of Cebu, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Leyte, Samar, and Eastern Samar, including Biliran for two to three hours due to Paeng.

PAGASA advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management councils to monitor the weather in their areas.

Mayor Rhodessa Delante-Revita of Caibiran urged her constituents to prepare and be vigilant due to the heavy rain in their town.

Naval Mayor Gretchen Stephanie Espina said they have repositioned rice in every barangay for evacuees in preparation for the weather disturbance.

"We aim to have immediate action and help at the barangay level," Espina said.
